Durham Ferry – If there was ever an example of choosing your category wisely, this shoot was an excellent one.  Of seventy one shooters, eight of the top ten and thirteen of the top twenty six represented different SASS recognized categories.  There were twenty five seniors, twelve ladies, twelve forty niners and five elder statesmen.  There was one young gun that really doesn’t need to shoot in that category any more since the Tracy Kid finished ninth overall and would have been second in the traditional category.  The Top Gun, a dude who goes by the handle of Badlands Bud, shot in the Gunfighter category and other than being fifty seconds ahead of second place and shooting the match clean, wasn’t much.  Anita Margarita who wields the power of the pen also wields a quick six gun and showed most of the guys how it was done while finishing as the top lady.  She would have been third overall in the traditional category.  And that poor mouthin’ Diamond Dick.  He always tells me how badly he is shooting and don’t you know that he was the top Senior Duelist AGAIN.  The targets looked a little bigger to nine shootists who had a clean match.  They are Danville Dove, Sintree Tulait, Peaceful, Shenandoah, Dirty Pete, Mudville, Frank Bruce, San Joaquin Shootist and Badlands Bud.  You CAN shoot fast and straight.  Three of those gunnies placed in the top four in the match.  Crusty Jim has displaced Diamond Dick as the best teacher.  Pocket Change bested him by more than a quarter of a minute. On to the gun slicks.
